If the snow conditions allowed it, the ski area and ski resort of Grands Montets was planning to open part of its slopes from this Saturday, November 25 for the 2023/24 winter season. Unfortunately, heavy rain that fell last week, even at altitude, decided otherwise. The mild weather that accompanied it even melted much of the generous base that fell at the beginning of November.
A frustrating situation for both for the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc, which operates the facilities and provides security in the ski areas, and for all the snow sports enthusiasts who are eager to make a series of turns.
However, the operator believes that it should be able to open continuously from Saturday 2 December 2023. This is dependent on the cold snap forecast for the weekend of 25/26 November that should be accompanied by some precipitation.
It is likely that alpine skiers will have to wait another week before being able to enjoy all the lifts on the north-facing slopes of Les Grands Montets.
